For the 20th consecutive spring, Govin’s Farm in Menomonie is hosting its Lambing Barn & Farm Babies event, a hands-on experience with friendly young farm animals that is fun for both children and most adults. It doesn’t appeal much to writers of weekly email newsletters as they tend to be tough and stoic and really not into that cutesy stuff. You can be sure of that.

Some of the precious little baby animals that visitors can expect to see include sheep, lambs, pigs, piglets, goats, chicks, alpacas, and ponies. The gentle, loving creatures offer unforgettable moments for those who aren’t more interested in spending their free time watching cage fights or shopping for leather jackets online.

The tiny creatures, with their big doe eyes and soft coats, are like real-life plush toys and a joy to cuddle, say people who aren’t too busy with less heartwarming pursuits like shooting pool or roughhousing their buddies.

It’s a great outing for families if you’re the type who prefers the sound of children’s laughter to that of a motorcycle revving or a screaming guitar solo.

The remaining Lambing Barn & Farm Babies dates on the 2025 calendar are March 29th and 30th, April 5th and 6th, the 12th and 13th, and then it wraps up for the year on April 18th and 19th. Hours go from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. They also have pony rides and a big slide there, which, frankly, don’t sound appealing either. Not one bit. You can learn more about Govin’s Farm at their website. Stay cool.
