Wisconsin Strong: Candle Sales Support Storm Cleanup

A storm ripped through Appleton and Menasha on July 27th, with a tornado causing extensive damage through the area. Winds reached 140 miles per hour, battering homes and businesses, overturning vehicles, uprooting trees, and knocking out power for as many as 20,000 people.

And, as you can expect from Wisconsinites, the community has rallied to support their neighbors in need in the aftermath. In addition to cleanup efforts, there have been donations of food, clothing, and money for those affected and displaced.

The Door County Candle Co. & Candle Bar launched a unique fundraiser, creating a special Wisconsin Strong candle, with 100% of the profits going toward relief efforts. As of Monday, they had raised over $18,000 for the cause, and that number continues to climb.

The 16-ounce Wisconsin Strong candle has a warm vanilla scent, burns for around 75 hours, and costs $29.95.

Now, you may not think of yourself as the scented candle type, but you can easily become one. All you need to do is light the wick to set the mood for a romantic dinner with your partner, add to the relaxing ambiance of a warm bubble bath, or mask the stank of the tiny cubicle where you peck out your weekly email newsletter. It’s just that easy.
