The neighborhood Kwik Trip provides a wide variety of offerings for its customers. For one newly married couple in Green Bay, it even supplied a backdrop for their wedding photos.

The Wisconsin-based convenience store played a pivotal role in the courtship of Pati Holschbach and James McKenzie-Brown, so the pair decided commemorate their special day with a photo shoot at the chain’s Lombardi Avenue location.

The choice isn’t as unexpected as it may seem at first blush when you consider that their relationship is anything but ordinary.

Holschbach hails from Green Bay and McKenzie-Brown from Twickenham, a suburb of London, England. They met on a dating app in 2021 despite being well out of each other’s preset distance ranges. Some sort of cosmic computer glitch connected the two despite being nearly 4,000 miles apart, which began a long-distance relationship that culminated at the Brown County Courthouse in March.

During his visits as they got to know each other, McKenzie-Brown dove headlong into Midwestern culture. A visit to Wisconsin’s favorite gas station was part of his indoctrination. It quickly became a favorite of his, too.

The couple got engaged in April of last year. McKenzie-Brown then had to get a K-1 visa to marry. Once secured, it stipulated that the couple must tie the knot within 90 days, which led to their small courthouse wedding and a brief stop at the Kwik Trip to immortalize their unusual union.

We congratulate the happy couple and welcome James to Wisconsin. If you think Big Buddy drinks are good, just wait until you try one of our Drink Wisconsinbly Ready-to-Enjoy Brandy Old Fashioneds.
