Cheese Dreams
A company called Sleep Junkie is looking for cheese aficionados to participate in a study. And they’re ready to pay $1000 for something many Wisconsinites do already for free.
A company called Sleep Junkie is looking for cheese aficionados to participate in a study. And they’re ready to pay $1000 for something many Wisconsinites do already for free.
Their mission is to get to the bottom of an old European wives’ tale that suggests eating cheese before bed causes nightmares. Five lucky participants will hit the fridge for a quick hit dairy before they turn in for the night, then record the results for the three-month study.
As you might imagine, there are some controls on the experiment that make it more complicated than simply going to town on a block of cheddar while you watch the evening news. Participants will need to track their sleep, have a consistent sleep schedule, and be able to sleep alone during the trials.
And there is the whole matter of cheese-induced nightmares. If all it takes to send you on a harrowing journey to a nocturnal hellscape is a bite or two of pepper jack, then $1000 may not be worth it. Participants will be reimbursed for the cost of cheese though, so maybe that is enough for you to risk it.
If you want to get involved, you can fill out an application at the company’s website. Money this easy will surely attract a lot of volunteers, so be sure to mention you’re from Wisconsin and have easy access to the finest pure, uncut product in the world.
