Kentucky Derby Style Meets Wisconsin Cheese Taste
Wisconsin Cheese is collaborating with noted hatmaker Christine A. Moore to create unique Derby Day headwear featuring real Wisconsin cheese.

The Kentucky Derby returns for its 151st installment on the first Saturday in May. This year, some local flavor will be found on the heads of a few stylish patrons. Literally.
Wisconsin Cheese is collaborating with noted hatmaker Christine A. Moore to create unique Derby Day headwear featuring real Wisconsin cheese. The Rinds & Roses Collection combines her signature silk roses along with one of six Dairyland cheese varieties to create a tasteful look that’s sharper than cheddar.
The limited-edition collection is on sale now. And, um, the hats are priced between $1,500 and $3,000.
So, right now, you’re probably thinking that’s a lot of money for a hat with some cheese on it. And there’s also a good chance you’re thinking that DW offers a lot of attractive hats. And why can’t I just staple a few slices of individually wrapped American onto one of those? Well, 100% of the proceeds of the sale are going to the University of Kentucky’s Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center. So, yeah, you could make your own cheese hat, but you wouldn’t be supporting diabetes treatment, prevention, education, and research.
The collab doesn’t end there though. The Wisconsin Cheese Rinds & Roses Clubhouse will provide Derby patrons with cheese samples on race day. It’s unclear whether they will be serving it on hats. For now, let’s just assume that they will. Anyway, something to keep in mind if you’re at Churchill Downs two weeks from today and are feeling a little homesick.
In conclusion, there is no shortage of ways to enjoy Wisconsin cheese, whether on your head or in your mouth. It’s up to you to decide which way is right for your lifestyle and your budget. Have a lucky day.
