As you know by now, we’re quite fond of Wisconsin. So it should come as no surprise that we’re strong advocates of getting out and enjoying the scenery any chance you get. And there’s unique opportunity to do that on a bicycle coming up in a few months.

The Ride Across Wisconsin returns for its tenth installment on July 12. It raises money for the Wisconsin Bike Fed, which works to make the state even more bike-friendly.

This year, it’s more of a Ride Around Eau Claire. There are three courses of various distances for riders to choose from. There’s a 180-mile loop for the truly insane, a 100-mile one for the slightly more reasonable cyclists, and a 13-mile loop for families.

We’re getting the word out early so you can start preparing now. Because if you’re anything like the Drink Wisconsinbly Week in Review Editorial Board, you need some time to prepare your legs, heart, lungs and especially your rear end for an extended bike trek. Those first few rides of the year make you wonder how bicycling ever gained widespread popularity.

This ride is all on paved roads, which should make it a little easier. You can choose whichever type of bike you think you can make it the distance on. Even E-bikes are welcome, which is good news for those who are in it more for the adventure than the exercise.

There are details of all the neat things you’ll see on each course on the event’s site, but what really stands out is that there will be a taco truck and beers at the end. Those will certainly hit different after several hours in the saddle. You can learn everything you need to know about fees and fundraising there, too.

Okay, that’s enough reading. Get out there and start pedaling. Best of luck to both you and your butt.
