Golf Course Beer Drinking Champions
A recent survey details Wisconsin's fondness for knocking a few back during a round with friends.

Wisconsin leads the nation in cheese production, cranberry harvests, and professional football proficiency. But did you know we also outclass the rest of the country in golf course beer consumption?
A recent survey details our state’s fondness for knocking a few back during a round with friends. 5.2 beers per 18 holes, to be specific. Florida and Texas follow with 4.8 and 4.6 per round, respectively. Utah comes in last place with a paltry 1.1 beers downed.
The Drink Wisconsinbly Week in Review team could not confirm the data or methodology of the survey, but c’mon. No matter how you frame your questions or manipulate the data, you know we’re coming out on top of any poll like this. If this one isn’t legit, another one will be.
Our analysis of the results indicates that Wisconsinites play golf for the social aspects of the game and aren’t all uptight about it, cursing, tossing clubs, or pouting when things aren’t going their way.
We certainly have some of those guys who stand in the fairway for too long deciding which club to hit or attempting to read the green with the seriousness of somebody defusing a bomb. Still, these figures suggest that we have fewer of them per capita, which is better for those who are just trying to enjoy themselves.
With that in mind, Minnesota, Illinois, and Michigan take down 3.5, 3.3, and 3.0 beers per round. You can draw whatever conclusions you like from that. Perhaps it’s something to keep in mind if you’re tempted to cross a border for a round with your pals.
So have fun out there if you’re playing this weekend, champ. Just remember to get a ride home if you do. And a designated driver for your cart wouldn’t be a bad idea either. Happen to have a friend from Utah who can round out your foursome?
